When managing project resources in LingoHub, a segment serves as the primary parent entity (the top-level element that contains keys, translations, and context) and can have one or more keys assigned to it. Deleting a key removes that specific key from the segment without deleting the segment itself or its translation data.
⚠️ Important: Deleting a segment key permanently removes it from its resource container. Unlike deleting an entire segment, there is no confirmation modal when deleting a key; clicking Delete immediately and irreversibly removes the key.
Steps to delete a segment key
Open the Editor in the top navigation bar and select the segment you want to manage.
Expand the context panel and ensure the Projects/Keys card is enabled under Segment info.
Hover over the key name in the Projects/Keys card and click the pencil (edit) icon.
In the Update segment key window, go to the Delete section and click Delete. The key will be removed immediately without further confirmation.
To learn how to delete the entire segment along with all its keys and translation data, read our guide on How to delete a segment.
