How to search segments without keys in the Editor?

Segments removed from a resource file during code updates or syncs are retained in LingoHub as segments without keys (formerly referred to as deactivated segments). While you can search and inspect these segments in the Editor, manual restoration is not supported.

Searching for segments without keys

To locate segments that no longer have an assigned key in your project:

  1. Click Editor in the top navigation bar.

  2. Click the filter icon or search bar controls to select Open advanced search.

  3. In the search window, scroll down to the Segment filters and enable Search segments without keys only.

  4. Click Search.

How segment restoration works

LingoHub doesn't retain or store deleted key identifiers for unlinked segments, which makes manual restoration impossible. Instead, segment restoration is handled automatically via file imports:

  • When you upload or sync a resource file containing content that matches a segment without a key, LingoHub automatically detects the matching text and re-links the key to the existing translation data.

  • If a newly imported key does not match any existing content, a new segment is created.
