At LingoHub, we focus on automating your localization workflow and saving your team time. While we offer various ways to keep your content in sync, the web interface provides a direct and manual way to manage your resource files.
There are three primary methods for synchronizing your data:
Integrations (Repositories like GitHub/GitLab, CMS, and more).
REST API
Web interface
This article covers how to use the web interface to manually upload and download files.
How to access the web interface
To manage your imports and exports manually, follow these steps to navigate to the correct section:
Click Projects on the top navigation bar and select your desired project from the Overview list.
Once inside the project, you will see several tabs below the project name.
Select either the Imports or Exports tab depending on your task.
The Imports and Exports tabs
Imports tab: Here you can view the history of all data brought into the project (including repository pulls and manual uploads). To start a manual import, click the Upload button.
Exports tab: This section shows a history of all generated files and downloads. To create a new download file, click the Download button.
Note: In both tabs, the Upload and Download buttons feature a dropdown arrow. This allows you to choose between your project's Default format (e.g., Android XML) or the LingoHub XLIFF/CSV formats.
How to upload files in the web interface
To add new content or update existing translations manually, use the Imports tab. The upload process consists of a two-step wizard to ensure your files are correctly mapped and processed.
Click the Upload button in the top right corner and select your desired file format (e.g., Android XML, LingoHub XLIFF, or LingoHub CSV).
A configuration window will open at Step 1: Upload files. Review your Import settings at the top. These settings define how segments are processed (e.g., whether to Create new ones or Deactivate missing ones).
You can update this global default in your Project Settings > Import/Export
Drag & drop your files into the upload area or click browse to select them from your computer.
Upload limits: You can upload up to 20 files at once (max. 25MB each). For complex file structures, we recommend uploading a .zip file.
Once the file shows a green "Uploaded" status, click Continue.
You will proceed to Step 2: Configure import. Here, LingoHub validates the file path and detected languages.
Click Start import to finalize the process.
You will be redirected to the Imports page, where you can track the progress. Click on any import entry to view detailed information, including:
General info: View the import ID, creation and update dates, type, status, user, and languages.
Entries: A list of the specific resource files processed, including their language, status, and update timestamp.
Event log: A technical timeline of the import process for troubleshooting and auditing.
How to download files in the web interface
To export your translations from LingoHub, navigate to the Exports tab. This section allows you to generate files based on specific criteria, such as status, language, or file type.
Click the Download button in the top right corner.
Select your preferred format from the dropdown menu:
Default format: (e.g. Android XML, iOS Strings): This follows your project's primary file type.
LingoHub XLIFF: A platform-independent standard, ideal for sharing with external agencies.
LingoHub CSV: A spreadsheet-friendly format.
A configuration window will appear. Review and adjust the following Export settings:
Source & Targets: Select which segment statuses (e.g., Draft, Approved, Translated) should be included in the exported file.
Select branch: Displays the branch where the data is being pulled from (e.g. main).
Select files: Toggle between All or Specific to choose which resource files to include.
Select languages: Toggle between All or Specific to define which target languages you need.
Select labels (Optional): If you chose XLIFF or CSV, you can further filter the export by specific labels.
Note: Your export settings are pre-defined by your project configuration. You can check or update these global defaults in your Project Settings > Import/Export, or edit some of them directly in the window for a one-time download.
Click Download.
Once the process is complete, the file will appear in the list on the Exports page. You can check the details of each export and download the files again at any time.
View information like:
General info: Review the export ID, creation and update timestamps, type, status, the user who initiated it, and the languages included.
Entries: View a list of generated files. You can click Download All to save the entire export or use the three-dot menu next to individual files to download them separately.
Event log: Access a technical log of the export process.
