Glossaries in LingoHub organize entries into two primary tabs: Translatable terms and Untranslatable terms. Categorizing your vocabulary ensures that human linguists and LINA know precisely which terms require translation and which must remain unchanged.
To learn step-by-step how to access your Glossary and add, filter, structure, or export terms within these categories, see our comprehensive guide on Glossary management options.
Overview: Translatable and Untranslatable terms
Translatable terms: Domain-specific vocabulary, industry terminology, product features, and UI text that require consistent, approved translations across target languages.
Untranslatable terms: Brand names, trademarks, product lines, or legal entities that must remain in their original source language across all locales (e.g., LingoHub, LINA).
Translation behavior & enforcement
LingoHub enforces different behaviors and Quality check rules based on these categories:
TRANSLATE (Translatable terms tab): Terms added to this tab receive the
TRANSLATEpreference. If approved target translations are defined in the Glossary, LINA and translators receive them as preferred suggestions. If no target translation is defined, the term is localized normally.NEVER_TRANSLATE (Untranslatable terms tab): Terms added to this tab receive the
NEVER_TRANSLATEpreference. LINA is strictly prevented from translating or modifying these terms. If a human editor modifies an untranslatable term, Quality checks will flag it as an error.
💬 Please note: When importing Glossaries via CSV or TBX files, entries default to TRANSLATE (placing them in the Translatable terms tab) if no specific preference metadata field is assigned. For details, see our guide on importing and exporting Glossaries using CSV.
