What you can do with self-managed and admin-managed API keys

LingoHub separates user-accessible API keys into Self-managed keys and Admin-managed keys. See their core functional differences and how to manage them from your personal profile.

Self-managed vs. Admin-managed keys

  • Self-managed keys: Created directly by you. These automatically inherit your active workspace permissions. To create one, see our guide on how to create a self-managed API key.

  • Admin-managed keys: These operate with explicitly defined access levels set by your workspace owner or admin. To learn how admins issue these, see our guide on how to create an API key.

Handling self-managed keys from your profile

Under your personal profile, select the Self-managed tab to perform actions on your keys:

  • Edit information: Click the Edit API key icon to update the key's Name, Description, or Expiration date.

  • Click Regenerate token to generate a new secret token while keeping settings intact. You will be asked to confirm your identity before the new token is generated.

  • Deactivate: Revoke a token manually when it is no longer needed.

📖 For details on manual and automatic revoking, see our guide on how to delete, deactivate, or revoke an API key.

Handling admin-managed keys from your profile

You can only view API key permissions and regenerate the token. Everything else is managed by your workspace owner or admin.
