LingoHub uses statuses and stages to structure, track, and standardize your translation process. Statuses indicate the exact state of an individual text segment, while stages group these statuses into high-level phases to drive automated AI workflows (LINA).

Understanding stages vs. statuses
Statuses: Specific labels applied to individual text segments to reflect their current state (e.g., Draft, AI Translated, Approved).
Stages: High-level categories (Not ready, Needs editing, Needs review, Done) displayed in the project Languages tab. These stages determine how LINA picks up and processes content.
Workflow stages overview
You can view the total segment count per stage for both source and target languages under Projects, Languages tab.
Workflow stage | Included statuses | Description & LINA behavior |
Not ready | Blocked | Content is restricted or unavailable. LINA ignores segments in this stage. |
Needs editing | New, Stale, Rejected, Draft | Segments require translation or editing. LINA processes content in this stage when assigned as a Translator or Agent. |
Needs review | AI Translated, Translated, QA passed, QA flagged | Content is translated and awaiting human review. LINA processes this content when assigned as an Agent. |
Done | Approved, Not translatable | Finalized translations ready for publication or export. |
Available segment statuses
Source language statuses
Source text segments have two available statuses:
Draft: The source text is incomplete or undergoing edits.
Approved: Default status for source texts, confirming they are finalized and ready for translation.
You can inspect and filter source statuses directly in the Editor using the Source status filter dropdown.
Target language statuses
Target translations support detailed status tracking across the workflow.
💬 Please note: The initial segment statuses shown below are LingoHub's default settings. You can customize which status a segment receives upon creation or when the corresponding source text is updated in your project settings.
Target status | Stage category | Description |
Blocked | Not ready | Translation is locked or restricted from editing. LINA sets segments to this status when repeated quality check issues occur, requiring a team member to resolve the issue and reset the status before LINA can process them again. |
New | Needs editing | Automatically assigned when new segments are imported or translations are deleted. |
Stale | Needs editing | The source text was updated, making the existing translation outdated. |
Rejected | Needs editing | A reviewer rejected the translation during QA/review. |
Draft | Needs editing | Incomplete or temporary translation saved by a team member. |
AI Translated | Needs review | Pre-translated by LINA (when assigned the Translator role). |
Translated | Needs review | Completed translation by a human translator, awaiting review. |
QA passed | Needs review | Passed automated quality checks. |
QA flagged | Needs review | Triggered quality check warnings (e.g., missing variables, length restriction). |
Approved | Done | Verified and finalized by a reviewer or LINA (Agent role). |
Not translatable | Done | Marked as non-translatable via your Glossary or project rules. |
