When LINA is assigned the Assistant role for a target language, she acts as an interactive partner inside the Editor. Translators can generate AI translations on demand, refine existing content, or explore alternative phrasing directly within their editing workflow.
Accessing LINA in the Editor
You can open the Editor and access LINA in two ways:
From the main header: Click Editor in the top navigation bar.
From the project overview: Click Projects in the top navigation bar, select your project, go to the Languages tab, and click the Editor icon next to your target language.
Once inside the Editor, select a target segment to translate or edit. Locate the Pre-translate section in the Editor context panel under Segment info.
On-demand AI operations
In the Pre-translate section, LINA displays the assigned model (e.g., DeepL V1, OpenAI GPT 5.4, etc.) and offers operations based on the engine type:
Translate: Generates an initial translation proposal for the active source segment.
Rephrase: Rewrites the current translation proposal using alternative phrasing while maintaining meaning.
Shorten: Condenses the target text to fit strict space or character constraints.
Suggest variants: Provides multiple translation alternatives.
Once LINA generates a proposal, click Apply to insert the text directly into your target segment field.
💬 Please note: Available operations depend on the underlying engine assigned to LINA. Machine Translation (MT) LINAs (e.g., DeepL, AWS Translate, Google Translate) only support the Translate operation. Advanced AI LINAs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) support all operations, including Rephrase, Shorten, and Suggest variants.
💬 Please note: When operating in the Assistant role, LINA does not automatically update segment workflow stages. Translators retain full control over approving or saving changes.
Checking connected LINA details
To view which specific LINA model is connected to a target language:
Hover over the LINA role icon next to the desired target language.
Click Update LINA assignment.
In the setup window, review the CONNECTED LINA field at the top (e.g., LINA DeepL or LINA GPT 5.4 Nano) along with its currently selected role.
