Once you have set up the Contentful integration, you can create a Contentful project in LingoHub. This guide covers project configuration, LINA setup, the translation process in the Editor, and pushing your content back to Contentful. If you ever need to expand your target markets down the road, you can also learn how to add new languages to your Contentful project.
Create a new project in LingoHub
To start syncing your data, create a project using the project wizard.
Click the Create project button in the top right corner.
Provide a clear Project name, select Contentful, then click Continue.
Under the Authentication & connection step, select your previously created authentication, your space, and environment from the dropdown list.
❗Important: LingoHub shows all spaces your token can access, but does not list their Contentful organization names. If you manage multiple clients, double-check that you choose the correct space. Also, you can only link one environment (e.g., master or staging) per LingoHub project. To translate multiple environments, you must create a separate LingoHub project for each one.
Click Continue.
Define resource filters
In the Entries sync setup wizard, you define the scope of what gets pulled into your project dashboard.
You can choose between two inclusion methods. Once chosen, click Continue.
Using Patterns: If you want to include entire page groups matching a specific name pattern, type your search string into the pattern field. For example, typing a prefix like Features/** and clicking Add filter will automatically capture all matching child entries.
Manual Inclusion: Alternatively, you can browse through All entries on the left side of the panel. Hovering your mouse over any entry item reveals an inline Include button. Click Continue.
Configure LINA (optional)
LingoHub pulls your source and target language structures directly from your Contentful configuration dashboard.
❗Important: Languages cannot be added directly inside LingoHub. If you want to translate your content into a new language, you must add it to Contentful first (See section “Adding a new locale in Contentful”).
Once you click Continue you will be able to set up LINA, your AI translation partner. You can assign one of three roles per target language: Assistant, Translator, or Agent. To view the differences, see section “LINA’s roles at a glance” in this guide.
Review the summary
In the final Summary step, check your structural configurations: your project information, connected service details, authentication credentials, assigned space, target environment branch, total number of synchronized entries, and languages.
Click Create project.
LingoHub automatically initiates the content import. This initial content pull runs automatically in the background and may take a brief moment to complete.
You can monitor the status of this transfer in the Imports & Exports tab.
Translate your content
As soon as synchronization is complete, you can navigate directly to your Languages view and open the editor to start translating.
In this example, LINA acts as an assistant. To use her suggestion, simply click Apply, or use the dropdown tools to rephrase or shorten the text or to suggest other variants to fit your layout perfectly.
LINA's roles at a glance
You can check or change LINA's automation settings for any language at any time in the Languages view. When you open the configuration window, you can choose between three distinct roles:
Assistant (Speech bubble icon): LINA works alongside you in the editor, standing by to rephrase, shorten, or suggest translations on request. She will not alter text on her own.
Translator (Pencil icon): LINA pre-translates new strings and runs baseline quality checks, leaving the final approval step to a human team member. She will move all segments to Needs review.
Agent (Lightning bolt icon): LINA runs on autopilot, automatically translating, checking, and approving your text segments. You are only contacted if she encounters a block.
Synchronize content back to Contentful
Manage your data exchange using the Contentful sync widget in the top-right corner.
Pulling updates from Contentful
Click Synchronize from Contentful to fetch new changes:
Update structure: Updates LingoHub if new entries or languages were added in Contentful.
Import texts: Updates existing containers with new or modified strings. Filter by Specific languages or entries if needed.
Pushing translations to Contentful
Click Synchronize to Contentful to publish finished translations:
Use the toggles to export All or Specific languages and content entries.
Click Export to instantly update your Contentful locales.
