When working with external agencies or contractors who do not translate directly within LingoHub, maintaining data structure and segment integrity can be challenging.
Using an XLIFF file solves this by providing a standardized, platform-independent format that exports text content cleanly, regardless of your project type (JSON, iOS, Android XML, etc.), without affecting your underlying file structure.

Export files (project content) as LingoHub XLIFF
To generate exchange files for your external agency:
Open your project and select the Files tab.

Click Download in the top right corner.

In the Download files window, set Download as to LingoHub XLIFF.

Source & Target statuses: Filter segments by their current workflow stage (e.g., Approved source content or Draft target segments).
Files & Languages: Select specific files and target languages to export.
Click Download to generate the XLIFF file.

Import translated XLIFF files back into LingoHub
Once the translation agency completes the work and returns the updated XLIFF files:
Go to your project's Files tab and click Upload in the top right corner.

In the upload window, drag and drop the translated file (we recommend using a
.zipfile).

Click Continue to process the import.
LingoHub automatically parses the updated XLIFF data, matching the translated segments back to their original keys and files seamlessly.
