The Editor context panel provides translators and project managers with detailed tools, suggestions, and background information directly alongside text segments. As part of the LingoHub Editor, the context panel supports translation workflows with features such as quality checks, translation memory, AI translation, discussions, and edit tracking.
Accessing and viewing the context panel
You can interact with the context panel in two viewing modes:
Collapsed view (Icons only): Hover over individual icons in the right sidebar to open specific tools (such as quality checks, context images, or discussions) in a quick-access popover window.
Expanded view: Click the expand icon in the top-right corner to expand the context panel and view full tools and settings alongside your workspace.
Context panel navigation & customization
Inside the expanded context panel, you can switch between views and customize your layout using two main controls:
Section switcher (top dropdown): Toggle between Segment info, Latest discussions, Latest edits, and Editor Appearance.
Sections configuration (bottom menu): Customize the panel to match your workflow. Click Sections configuration at the bottom of the panel to select which tool cards to show, hide, or reorder.
Context panel sections overview
Use the section switcher dropdown in the upper-right corner to toggle between the primary context views:
1. Segment info
The Segment info section provides contextual tools for the currently selected text segment. Each tool card can be individually configured. In addition, they can be hidden (1) and sorted via drag and drop (2) based on individual preferences:
Projects/Keys
View the project name, container details, and key identifier. You can edit or copy the key directly or apply search filters.
Text
View segment metadata, including assigned team, last update timestamps per language, and assigned labels.
Click the + button under Labels to assign labels or click Manage labels to open the label management page. To learn more, read our guide on How to manage labels.
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the card to open Segment settings. From here, you can toggle Translatable and Plural settings or delete the segment completely.
Description
View, add, or edit context descriptions for the selected segment.
Pre-translate (LINA AI & Translation memory)
Access AI translation options and translation memory (TM) suggestions.
LINA AI operations: Whether AI LINA operations are displayed depends on the role assigned to LINA for that language (e.g., LINA must be assigned as an assistant). Use the operation dropdown to Translate, Rephrase, Shorten, or Suggest variants, and click Apply to update the target input. You can also copy the translation by clicking on the files icon.
⚡Pro tip: Configure the active AI model (like Claude Haiku 4.5) under the AI tab in the main top navigation menu.
Translation memory (TM) suggestions
In addition to AI LINA, matching suggestions from your translation memory are displayed here. You can directly apply these matches to your segment inputs.

Quality checks
Review automated length restrictions, placeholder validations, and formatting checks.
Click the edit (gear) icon on a specific quality check card in the panel (appears by hovering over the title) to directly adjust parameters (e.g., character length limits) for that segment.

Multi Editor
Translate text segments across multiple target languages simultaneously.
Use Select languages to choose which target languages to display.
View and change the statuses of both source and target languages directly within the tool card. To learn more about available statuses, read our article on understanding statuses and stages.
Expand or truncate language inputs using the controls in the top-right corner of the card.
Discussions
View, manage, or create segment-level discussions.
Click the + button to start a new discussion.
Highlight a specific word or phrase directly in the target text field and click the Add discussion pop-up button to create a discussion tied specifically to that selection.
Click the three dots on an existing thread to add comments or mark it as closed.
Context images
Upload and view screenshots associated with the selected segment.
Upload up to 3 files per segment in PNG, JPEG, or JPG formats.
View preview thumbnails directly on the card. You can enlarge it by clicking the eye icon. Remove the context image by clicking the link icon.
History
Track past content edits, AI translations, and status updates for the selected segment.
Filter history entries by Date range or specific Language.
Hover over previous entries and click the Restore button (arrow icon) to revert the translation or status back to a previous state.
History logs beyond the 180-day limit require an upgraded plan. Click Show all history at the bottom to open a full-screen modal with all logged edits.
2. Latest discussions
The Latest discussions view displays recent comment threads across your project:
Filter discussions: Use the filter icon to isolate your discussions or filter by date, user, language, or project.
Manage threads: Click the three dots on a discussion card to mark it as closed.
Open in Projects: Click the arrow icon on any thread card to open the full conversation view under the main Discussions section in the Projects tab.
3. Latest edits
The Latest edits section tracks recent translation changes and status updates:
Filter edits: Filter log entries by date, user, target language, project, or label.
View changes: Click Show more on any card to view detailed comparisons or navigate directly to the text edits page.

4. Editor appearance
The Editor appearance section allows you to customize your visual workspace layout :
Whitespaces: Toggle non-printing whitespace characters on or off.
Density: Choose between Default, Comfortable, or Compact segment row spacing.
Font size: Adjust display typography size for Editor inputs.
